Thank you for choosing to volunteer at this pantry. We are very excited to have you join our team. Before you get started, we want to ensure that you read and understand the following information and agree to the following guidelines. These guidelines have been implemented for your safety and the safety of of all volunteers, staff, and guests. We ask that you sign and date the form on your first day at the pantry. By signing the form, you agree to comply. Welcome to the team!
- A “volunteer” is anyone who, without compensation or expectation of compensation beyond reimbursement, performs tasks at the direction of and on behalf of the TCMI Pantry.
- A volunteer MUST be officially accepted by the director prior to performance of the task. A volunteer shall not be considered as “employees” of the pantry.
- A volunteer MUST officially report to his or her assigned station on time and ensure that it is properly managed (duties are not limited to stocking shelves, transporting / receiving donated items, distributing food and other tasks assigned ).
- A volunteer MUST possess a positive attitude and be respectful toward others at ALL times. Our guests and other volunteers come from different walks of life and have a positive attitude will create a positive atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable and work safely (actions affect not only the team, but the community as a whole ).
- A volunteer MUST be respectful and treat everyone with patients, integrity, courtesy and consideration. Do not humiliate / ridicule / threaten anyone; profanity is prohibited.
- A volunteer MUST exercise discretion and confidentiality and never disclose or discuss with others information pertaining to volunteers, staff or guests (this also applies after discontinuing service ).
- A volunteer MUST report any incidents and disagreements between volunteers to the director for proper resolution. Asking questions and for help is highly encouraged.
- A volunteer MUST also wear the following items:
- Mask to protect yourself and others from possible illnesses ( due to COVID-19 ) NO EXCEPTIONS at all times
- Gloves at all times
- A name tag
- Closed tip shoes, tennis shoes and boots are approved
- Volunteers who wish to get a box of food from the pantry should respect the specified ratio stated by the director (1 box per family per week). No one is allowed to shop for food without prior authorization.
- Volunteers who do not adhere to the policies and procedures of the pantry or who fail to satisfactorily perform their volunteer assignment are subject to dismissal. No volunteer will be terminated until the volunteer has had an opportunity to discuss the reasons for possible dismissal notice from the director.
- Possible grounds for dismissal may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Gross misconduct or insubordination
- Theft of property or misuse of pantry materials
- Abuse or mistreatment of guests, staff, or other volunteers
- Failure to abide by pantry’s policies and procedures
- Failure to satisfactorily perform assigned duties.
- Minors MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult (parent) AT ALL times.
- Box carriers MUST be 18 years old (identification will be required to verify age).
- All Community Service Members & High School Students MUST report to the director and follow the above policies & procedures accordingly.
